Om Auto Group with a turnover of Rs 330 million is a pioneer
in Vehicle Transportation by trailors, Domestic Air Cargo
and Integrated Logistics Management.
OM Auto Group of companies have 40 branch offices India-wide
that employ a work force of 600 personnel. It has a fleet
of about 500 vehicles that daily log about 100,000 kms.
The high volume of transactions and absence of a centralized
channel of communications/information led to increased
paperwork and operational costs (Telephone/FAX), slower
service, slow reaction to time to customer queries and
most important inefficient consignment tracking.
The
solution offered to OM Auto Group integrates the operations
of all the 40 branch offices through the Internet backbone.
Solution Architecture
The challenge of integrating the databases of all the
branch offices was met by Tata Technologies by providing
a two-tier solution.
The first tier comprises
of a front end solution that allows the offices to work
offline and independently on localized database.
The second tier comprises
of a centralized application/database server that is the
repository of all the localised databases and serves as
a data warehouse for the management as well as the customer.
The glue, "VCMXchanger",
that binds the two tiers i.e. the local offices and the
centralised data storage is a custom developed solution
by Tata Technolgies.
The "VCMXchanger", using state-of-art technologies of
Java and XML, maintains the distributed databases in synch.
